Primitive Bear Knives, or PBK, was started based off of the search for a few different things. The perfect knife being one of them, the grail so to speak. Don’t get me wrong, there are a ton of grails out there just like I’m not the only knife maker on the planet, or galaxy for all we know! I’ve tried and tried and tried many different knives from some incredible makers and just couldn’t find exactly what I wanted, so I said to myself, “self lets just make our own exactly like we want it!” Well that turned out to be ALOT of fun and I just could not stop myself from making more! Not to mention the joy it brings me to see someone use one of my knives and be happy! Man, there is no better feeling!

 

Also, the example I’m setting for my kids. They are watching something get created out of nothing and it absolutely fascinates them, and I don’t mean just a knife build either, I’m talking about PBK as a whole. Which brings me to another reason why PBK was started. Family! I can watch my family grow without having to miss out on it because I had to clock in at a job an hour away. Plus it gives something to the kids to take over in the future. These kids of mine, they really look up to dad, or papa bear I should say. They see my passion in knives not just as a maker, but collector and user of sharp things. They follow in my footsteps and they have the same passion as myself and that is a major reason why PBK was started! And lastly it’s a passion, it’s what I love to do!
